Travel
We’ll mainly be hanging out at this chateau in Collonges-au-Mont-d’Or, which is a quick few stops on the train north of Lyon.
Getting to Lyon
✈️ Flying
If you're traveling internationally, you can fly directly into:
Lyon–Saint Exupéry Airport (LYS) — closest option (about 30–40 minutes from the château)
Paris Charles de Gaulle (CDG) — ideal if you'd like to spend a few days in Paris before the celebration
Geneva Airport (GVA) — a great option if you're continuing on to Switzerland after the weekend
🚄 From Paris
The easiest and most enjoyable option is the TGV high-speed train from Paris Gare de Lyon to Lyon Part-Dieu. Travel time is ~2 hours and trains depart frequently throughout the day.
🚄 From Geneva
If you're arriving through Switzerland, trains connect Geneva Cornavin and Lyon Part-Dieu throughout the day.
Getting to Collonges-au-Mont-d’Or
TAKING THE TRAIN
First, take a quick regional train to Lyon Perrache (8-10 minutes). From Lyon Part-Dieu (the main station), the travel time will be about 8–10 minutes.
From Lyon Perrache, board a TER train to Collonges–Fontaines. Travel time will be approximately 10–12 minutes
From Collonges–Fontaines Station, it's just a short 5-minute walk.
Option 2: Taxi or Uber
If you have luggage or are arriving with a group, taking a taxi or Uber from either Lyon Part-Dieu or Lyon Perrache is simple and should take 20-25 minutes.
FAQs
-
The main celebration takes place on Saturday, August 15 but the majority of the group will start celebrations with a picnic on Friday in Lyon.
For those who'd like to extend the trip, I'll also be spending the weekdays before (Monday, August 10 through Friday, August 14) in Paris.
Join for as much—or as little—of the week as works for your schedule.

Not at all.
This weekend is meant to be flexible. Join us for every activity or simply come for the portions that excite you most.
I’d personally LOVE to see you in Tain-l’Hermitage at Dinner though!
-
The overall vibe in the French countryside is fairly casual, and the warm weather means that lighter fabrics (linens) are recommended.
Think:
Linen shirts and dresses
Beige, white, cream, or soft earth tones
Comfortable shoes for walking / biking, and a swimsuit for a dip in the pool
A light jacket for the evenings
Saturday evening is the most elevated event of the weekend, but there's no need for formal attire—comfortable elegance is the goal.
